A Tohoku powder factory — the “King of Snow”, with a world-class powder reset rate.
Geto Kogen Snow Resort lies deep in Iwate Prefecture’s Tohoku region, near Kitakami. Locals call it the “King of Snow” — it boasts a world-class powder reset rate, where overnight falls regularly leave knee-deep powder by morning.
Its signature is a massive Tree Run Area with progressive difficulty levels, where you can “ride as one with nature.” Beyond the trees there’s a Snow Park, famous mogul runs (the Happy Turn / Bumps course) and a full spread of beginner, intermediate and advanced courses.
Season & facilities
One of Japan’s longest seasons, running through Golden Week with a spring pass from mid-March. On the mountain: ski & snowboard schools, standard and powder-specific rentals, lodging, restaurants, and the Geto Kogen hot spring, Usagimori no Yu.
